The Globe Business Park BID Community Membership Scheme enables organisations outside the BID boundary to engage with Globe Business Park’s business community and become part of a wider network of businesses working together to support economic growth, investment and collaboration.

Community Membership provides access to valuable business intelligence, networking opportunities, business updates and engagement with issues affecting the local economy. It creates opportunities to build relationships, share knowledge and stay connected to the discussions and developments shaping the wider business community.

Designed for organisations with a strategic connection to Globe Business Park, the scheme helps businesses and stakeholders strengthen their links with the area while contributing to a stronger collective voice on matters such as transport, skills, recruitment, infrastructure and economic development.

Whether you are a neighbouring business, commercial property owner, professional service provider, major employer or business support organisation, Community Membership offers a practical way to stay informed, connected and engaged.

Membership Benefits

Community Membership provides access to a range of business engagement, networking and information-sharing opportunities designed to help organisations remain connected to Globe Business Park and the wider business community. Members benefit from regular updates on business, economic and policy developments, together with opportunities to engage with fellow businesses, key stakeholders and local decision-makers. The scheme supports collaboration on shared challenges and opportunities while helping organisations build valuable professional relationships and remain informed about issues affecting the local business environment.

Members can access networking events, business engagement activities, recruitment and skills information, grant and funding opportunities, economic development updates and stakeholder communications. Community Members may also benefit from promotional opportunities through BID communications channels, subject to availability. In addition, Community Members form part of a broader business network that helps strengthen engagement with local authorities, public bodies and partner organisations, supporting a more connected and representative business community.

Community Member Benefits

Community Engagement and Business Support

Participation in business engagement events is normally limited to a maximum of two attendees per organisation. For team-based events, including quiz nights, organisations are limited to one team entry unless otherwise agreed by the BID.

Representation and Advocacy

*Community members may raise issues and concerns through the BID. The BID may advocate on matters that align with BID objectives and support the wider business community. Representation of Community members remains secondary to the BID’s statutory responsibilities to levy-paying businesses.

Community Membership and BID Membership

Community Membership provides access to engagement, networking and business support opportunities. However, BID levy-paying businesses directly fund the BID through a statutory levy and therefore retain certain exclusive rights and benefits. The tables below explain the distinction.

These benefits remain reserved for levy-paying businesses in recognition of their statutory contribution to funding and shaping the BID.

BID levy-paying businesses directly fund and shape investment within Globe Business Park. These projects and initiatives are delivered for the benefit of businesses located within the BID boundary and form a core part of the value provided through BID membership.

BID-Funded Investment in Globe Business Park

BID levy-paying businesses fund investment directly into Globe Business Park. As a result, physical improvements and place-based projects remain focused on businesses located within the BID area.

Membership Principles

The Business Community Member BID scheme is guided by the following principles:

Complementary, Not Competitive
Community membership is intended to complement the BID and increase community engagement. It is not intended to replicate BID membership.

Protecting Levy Payer Value
Governance rights, voting rights and strategic decision-making will remain exclusive to levy-paying businesses.

Supporting a Stronger Business Community
The scheme aims to bring together businesses that share common interests and challenges, creating opportunities for collaboration and collective action.

Building a Stronger Voice
A larger and more diverse business network improves the BID’s ability to represent the interests of the wider commercial community and engage effectively with public and private sector partners.

    Member Conduct

    Business Community Members shall not represent themselves as speaking on behalf of Globe Business Park BID, its Board, levy-paying members, or its appointed representatives unless expressly authorised in writing to do so by the BID.

    Membership of the scheme does not confer any authority to make statements, commitments, representations or public comments on behalf of the BID.

    Members must not use their association with the BID in a manner that could reasonably be considered misleading, reputationally damaging, defamatory or likely to bring the BID, its Board, levy payers, partners or stakeholders into disrepute.

    Use of BID Branding

    Business Community Membership does not grant permission to use the Globe Business Park BID logo, branding or identity without prior written approval.
    Members may refer factually to their participation in the scheme but must not imply endorsement, partnership status, governance involvement or representation authority.

    No guarantee of benefit

    Membership does not guarantee access to any specific opportunity, event, promotion, representation activity or outcome. Benefits may be amended from time to time at the discretion of the BID Board.

    Member Termination

    The BID Board reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership at its absolute discretion where it considers a member’s conduct inconsistent with the aims, values or reputation of the BID. 

    Membership Fees

    Annual membership fees are based on Rateable Value (RV).

    The BID Board reserves the right to approve Community memberships where strategically beneficial to the wider business community.

    Membership will become active only upon receipt of the annual membership fee. Membership fees will be reviewed annually and may be amended at the discretion of the BID Board.

    Membership Approval and Termination

    Membership is subject to approval by the BID Board.

    The BID Board reserves the right to refuse, suspend or terminate membership at its discretion where:

    • The organisation no longer meets the objectives of the scheme.
    • Membership is considered incompatible with BID objectives.
    • Fees remain unpaid.
    • The organisation’s conduct risks causing reputational damage to the BID.
    • Continued membership is not considered to be in the interests of levy-paying members.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Does Community Membership make us a BID member?

    No. Community Membership enables organisations outside the BID boundary to engage with the BID and access selected benefits, but it does not provide voting rights or governance responsibilities.

    Can Community Members vote in BID ballots?

    No. Voting rights remain exclusive to BID levy-paying businesses.

    Can Community Members stand for the BID Board?

    No. Board eligibility remains exclusive to levy-paying businesses.  

    Can organisations outside Globe Business Park join?

    Yes, subject to Board approval and a clear connection to Globe Business Park and the wider business community.

    Annual fees range from £500 to £3,000 depending on rateable value.
